What kind of a year has it been?
Better yet, what kind of Quarter Century has it been?
Whew, that's a book. Better stick with what could've felt like 25 years, but actually upon reflection, was only these past 316 days. Of course, there's more to it than that.
Looking forward to the 2nd quarter of the century and a redeeming 2026.
Here are some of the years Highlights:
We were fortunate to be able to continue representing a nearly 100 year old family business in upper New York State. Sort of a transition from doing their VoIP system for years alongside their jingle. They wanted to continue that image with their Podcasts. Click to listenIn April we posted the passing of Val Kilmer at age 65. Val's battle with throat cancer was related to other diseases and affected his vocal chords. He said; "When I speak now, I sound like Marlon Brando after a couple of bottles of tequila," as he recalls in his candid video memoir, Val . Ai played a remedial part towards Val's ability to communicate. I'm pictured here with Val Kilmer at his tie-in promotion for the 2008 premiere opening of the movie: Columbus Day. The conversation got around to voices and Celeb-Death Matches. Val was a character voice artist too and was partial to the Nick Nolte I did vs. Eddie Murphy. Click: Celeb-Death Match
Tales of the Macabre at the Mortuary is an anthology of dark legends and haunting folklore inspired by the mysteries of New Orleans and the surrounding bayou. Explaining further, it's part cocktail event, part theatrical production and part haunted mansion. This exclusive event weaves together storytelling and mixology to bring four chilling tales to life. Talk about re-inventing an event venue, especially now, during the spring & summertime events.
The voice direction was; Think the seedy streets of England. Be good if he had a Cockney-ish voice to go with his conjured looking figure. Here, step this way guv'nor, I've got your back!
On the premise that the TR3 folks might consider a celeb voice for projects, I proffered the idea of associating Jason Statham's character, Frank Martin in the Transporter movie franchise. Figured a voice sounding like Jason's might appeal to their racing customer base. So, we recorded some of TR3's projects w/music tracks and asked them to have a listen. Click to Play
This past August marked the 30th anniversary of working with NY Giants, defensive end Michael Strahan and NY Jets wide receiver, Wayne Chrebet on the Tops Appliance City radio spots here in New York.
We got along on all fronts and had some fun doing The Tops & Sharp Monday Night Live Football Sweepstakes promos! I played the part of the noisy play-by-play sportscaster in the (:30) second radio spot below. Could this be a captured moment-in-time for the potential 'Wall-of-Fame'? Meet 'Queen of the Night' - Every ancient horror has a beginning… every myth, every "whisper; in the dark can be traced back to her.
This Halloween, you heard "Long before the monsters, before the witches danced under the stars, before wolves howled at the cursed moons there was a woman...a daughter of Eden."
Off we went into the L.A. Airforce about
40 years ago with what was called Air-Drops
for radio station Dj's. Air-Drops are little voice-liners about 5-10
sec's in length, usually comedic in tone and designed to help Dj's segue
between programs or sequence shifts. We auditioned and landed the role of Captain Bucko. They liked a voice I did that was inspired by the original Burger King voice
of yore. And there have been a ton more King character voices since.
